The Practical Test
The driving test is straightforward. And is in two parts:
First part: Eyesight Requirement & Show me & Tell me (knowledge of safety aspects)
You must satisfy the examiner that in good daylight you can read a vehicle number plate at a minimum distance of 20.5 metres (about 67 feet)
Candidates will be asked two questions, one ‘show me’ and one ‘tell me’. One or both questions answered incorrectly will result in one driving fault being recorded.
Second Part: (Practical Test)
It is designed to see if you can drive safely, know the Highway Code and can demonstrate this through your driving, you will be asked to perform two manoeuvres and possibly an emergency stop
Test routes are designed to be as uniform as possible include a range of typical road and traffic conditions. You will be given directions in good time. The driving test lasts about 40 minutes
